I hope you all are playing wooden woods or are getting your classic bag together. I’m curious what woods you all have in your bags right now.
I‘ve got a set of Cleveland Classic TC-15 persimmon woods in the bag right now. I’ve refinished them all and they play and look fantastic. The 5-wood I’ve had for close to 20 years and used it semi-regularly alongside my modern metalwoods. Forum member DickGarrison was kind enough to send me the driver and I recently purchased the 3-wood to complete the set.
So, what vintage woods do you all have in the bag right now? Let’s see some pics of that wood!
(Sorry the grooves are dirty, just got back from the range. 😀)

Beautiful set of Cleveland Classics. I have a TC15 driver, just looking for a nice #3 to go with it.
This year I am playing with a set of Macgregor T85 Velocitized Eye-O-Matic's. I only carry a driver and #3 so for me it's a set. I picked these up individually off of Ebay ready to play. Not perfect but pretty nice playable condition. Just added new grips and put them in the bag.
Unfortunately we have had a lot of rain this year and so not much time spent on the course with them yet.
Very nice pair of Macgregor’s there terreb. That driver has a very nice head shape. Hopefully you get the chance to give them some more playtime soon. I’d be itching to hit those.
Having trouble with uploader.
So with the caveat that I have never seen the irons in person, I did order them (RTJ registered stainless) on ebay to match my great grandfather’s spalding woods which are waiting mid-restoration. I have two period-correct spalding putters at my disposal and just need a sand wedge to play 1-4W, 2-9i, sw, putter. That is the 1948-52 spalding bag. The other bag I’m working on is the ”Tom Kite” and will feature ’88 redlines with Apex woods. (Some of which have been supplied by Dick Garrison here) Other items on the ”someday list” are VIP’s with Tourney woods, and a full set if Stan Thompson irons with which I’d pair the stainless PW and SW I have. P.s. I may be back stateside next month!
Looking good James. Let me know when you are back around these parts, we can tee it up full vintage. And if you are looking for Stan Thompson woods let me know. I’m a big fan of his woods and have quite a few sets.
Nice stuff guys--- Now my main 2 persimmon woods are mismatches--- I have a Blonde fiber faced Power Bilt that reminds me of my most beloved one of the past. My 4 wood is a Keyhole Mac that a friend of mine on WRX gave me when he visited last year. At suggestion of another friend I have put a 57 Mac cloverleaf soleplate 2 wood in the bag to try this week. I have never hit that Mac either have no idea what shaft is in it but it seems stiff. Thing is I have so much stuff there is a lot I have not had time to try yet. I will try to hit anything----- I am a dyed in the wool Macgregor man but am not brand agnostic I will try anything like I said. I have not retired yet so I have more clubs than I have time to try
Swapped out the Cleveland Classics yesterday to test out these beauties. Blonde Beverly Hills era Stan Thompson woods 1-4 with TT Pro Fit Regular flex shafts. Probably late 50’s Era due to the shafts and will be the perfect match to my 1958 Dynapowered irons with the same shafts. Incredible original leather grips too!
Blondes do hav more fun!
Wow, those are some real beauties there. Love them!
